Moving On...

Today's question: If you had to live your life in a place that you have never lived in before, where would you live?

Well, since I've always lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, there are many possibilities. I could go the easy route and say Austin, but it seems like cheating to stay in Texas. Let's see, I would probably be most comfortable in the South. But not in Louisiana, where my in-laws are. Oops, did I just type that out loud?*

Other than that, it's pretty much wide open.

[sits here for several minutes staring into space]

Okay, for no other reason than I have heard nice things about these places, I might consider going to Atlanta, GA:
or Asheville, NC.

Can you tell that I'm a homebody? I want to VISIT a lot of places, but this is home.

*Don't worry, they don't even know what a blog is, much less that I have one.

  1. I love, love, LOVE Asheville. It is the only place we've ever been that made us really, really consider moving. But I also love, love, love where I live: Harbor Springs, Michigan. Tiny town (think no stop lights) on the shore of Little Traverse Bay, which boasts the cleanest, deepest freshwater harbor in the whole country. We have tons of open space and public lands, great little farmers that we know very well, and a sense of community that just is too hard to pass up. We also have the world's best chocolate milkshakes AND yoga teacher. So, in a nutshell, you might want to move here...although it is very, very cold in the winter:)

  2. Kate, unfortunately the cold is a deal-breaker for me. But otherwise your town sounds lovely. I'd like to visit--in the summer, of course!

  3. I have heard wonderful things about Asheville. That gets my vote.

I, too, am a homebody. I can't imagine ever moving.....and hope I never have to.

  5. Hill country TX, no doubt about it. Somewhere within 50 miles of Austin would be great.

  7. I am a homebody too...however, I love the country and still have fantasies about leaving Alaska and headed towards the lower 48. Texas would be perfect. :)

  8. I am a homebody too. But I'd love to TRY living at The Sunshine Coast. It's great to visit. I guess that if I could live there and get sick of the traffic and big posh shopping malls, then I could say "Been there, done that, going back to live where I used to live!"

Living with the in-laws is not easy. Both sets of parents live in the town we just moved to. A double-edged sword. We were such grown-ups when we lived an hour away!

  9. No where in particular, just deep in the country with a mountain nearby, and a river. Ya. That would be nice.

  10. You could move to my area. It's nice and relaxed... but cold is a dealbreaker, and I'm not gonna lie. It's cold at least 8 months of the year here, and I still have some snow in my yard.

  11. Well, I have lived in both Northern and Southern California, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Idaho. And I don't know why, but I always have dreams of moving to New York. Call me crazy, I know. Big city life would probably take it's toll, but it just seems so exciting!

  12. Since you're a tried&true Texan like my dad (who still shivers on 70 degree Pacific NW days), I guess living here is out for you - but I'd be happy to host you for a summer weekend in Vancouver/Portland. The green (even in the cities!) will blow you away...

  13. My top three would probably be Chicago - the city NOT the suburbs, New York City - again, the city, NOT the suburbs, or Boston, Mass. - city NOT the suburbs.

I've always wanted to live in a downtown city area. Yes, I realize the challenges of raising a child in that environment, but I think you could expose your children to so much living in a city.

But then, I guess I'm just a city girl trapped in a suburban mom's body!
