Juck and Ali Plus Two

The kids like to watch Jon & Kate Plus 8, a show on TLC that chronicles the life of a couple who had twins, then decided to try one more time and had sextuplets. (Gack! The very thought makes my uterus try to turn inside out.)

Whenever we watch it, I am very thankful that: a) I do not have eight children;

b) I am not a neat freak who has trouble letting her kids get a tiny bit dirty every so often;
and

c) that I am not a neat freak with eight children, because HOW CAN SHE EVEN KEEP THAT PART OF HER PERSONALITY? Me, I had two kids and boom, my cleanliness standards plummeted from “neat and tidy except for excess paperwork on the desk” to “sticky substances possible on any given surface.”

Nothing against Kate, but I'd rather my kids get to paint and eat ice cream and make mud pies. I think that’s a pretty good tradeoff.
I'm sure if I had as many clothes to wash as she does, I'd feel differently, but for now, bring on the stain remover!

  1. I once changed my baby son every time he burped and a bubble of milk appeared on his bib front...then after about two weeks, that crap wore off and I let him be a kid...how are they going to build up immunity to anything if nothing is allowed to touch them? Great post, fun!

  2. Dirt is healthy! LOL I read some where before I actually had kids that a dirty house can help them not have allergies. SO I go with that idea maybe even beyond. Its all good.

  3. We live overseas and don't get many U.S. shows.... like CNN or morning talk shows... but, we do get this. My husband recently came across this and we watched a few episodes. What a hoot... I could not imagine having 8 kids - let alone a camera crew in your house all the time. Better them than me!

    P.S. Stains are HUGE in our house... thank goodness for the Tide Stick - a must have for every mom!

  5. I love Jon and Kate! Yes, she's a little neurotic but I kind of wonder if some of it's not caused by there kids. Sort of a "my life is out of control and being run by two six year olds and six three year olds but at least I can be in control of what my kitchen floor looks like" thing.

  6. I laughed reading this. As my son is running around naked b/c we are potty training. Toys strung through out the living room and me still in p.j.s! They are only little once let them have fun!

  7. I don't like that show. One the yelling and screaming of the kids? Extensive! Second? Kate is so micro-managing and mean to Jon. She should be glad he didn't run for the hills when they found out they were about to have a total of 8 kids!

  9. Yeah, my husband calls that show "Reality Horror Programming." He also says that the only reason Jon and Kate don't leave each other is because each one is terrified of getting sole custody....

    Does that say something about my husband? Maybe.

  10. Like a circus freak show geek, I am at once compelled to watch this show and reviled at the same time.

    Glad it's them and not me!

She took the time out to email me. WHATEVER...so, I looked at the blog.. I knew it was going to be bad but, I had to look.. kinda like a trainwreck... BOY was it bad.Dig after dig. I couldn't believe it... and people commented. Have they NO LIFE?
    I don't want to help publicize it but, if you are interested email me and I will send you the link...
    It had some inside in-law dirt.. that was the only interesting part of it. Be careful posting about J & K.. The Kater Hater may email you too!

  12. I can't watch that show for long before Kate gets on my nerves. The one episode that was really a turn off to me was when they went shopping in Toys R Us, and she was yelling at Jon in front of all the customers. It was just too much.

  13. kate's not a neat freak... just bcuz she likes to keep up wit 8 kids... and teach them how to be clean sometimes dont make her a neat freak. having 8 kids would drive u guys nuts... but EY... she's doing one hell of a job... BIG UPS TO KATE... SO CUT THA HATERATION OUT... and either watch tha show or not... if not... shut tha hell up and keep it moving... cz dont nobody care about u and ur parenting skills... u juss mad cz u aint got a show of ur own.. broadcasting u or any of you ugly ass children... u couldnt stand a day in their shoes dealing wit 8 kids... so dont run at tha mouth when u only handling 1 or 2 at a time...

  15. Seriously.... I am shocked @ how many people are jon and kate hatters. Me for 1 love the show. I however dont like juck and ali plus two.. I think that ur 4getting that kate has 4 times as many kids then you and of course thats going to make her very highstrung.. the only way she can manage that many kids is being overly organized, jon is her back bone her lean on guy and of course she is stressed and may not say nice things to him but guess what he can take it because he understands her and the situation, what there going threw, aparently half of the people who commented negatively have never seen more then 5 min of the show, she does let her kids have fun, go outside, get dirty and make messes.... but also can get annoyed @ when they do so, hello is 8 kids to pick uo after... I love kate and jon. I aplaude the great job they're doing. I might not be in there shoes but I got alot of simpathy to go around...
