What I Learned This Week #6

  • I learned that my husband is capable of eating chicken fried steak twice in one day--and not remembering it until he ordered the second one. He still enjoyed it, too.
  • For the past week or so, I've noticed that many of my pants aren't fitting comfortably, making me want to wear my comfy workout pants all the time. I figured I needed to lose weight--something I'm not very good at. So I watched what I ate all weekend, asked a friend to loan me her Weight Watchers stuff, went to the gym and weighed myself--and found out that I weigh the same amount I did the last time I weighed, at least three weeks ago. It was a relief to find out that my goal isn't that far off, but it still doesn't solve the mystery of why I have a tummy pooch even if I supposedly weigh the same amount. However, I've decided to go ahead and tweak my eating habits anyway, as well as get back to exercising regularly. News flash to Ali: being healthy actually does make you feel better!
  • Apparently I am not as interested in a book about the manhunt for John Wilkes Booth after he assassinated Lincoln as I thought I'd be. There's nothing wrong with the book: it's well-written, but is just not keeping my interest. Still, I continue to slog through it--why, I don't know. I usually don't have any problem abandoning books. Thank goodness I'm going to the library today. Like Rain Man, I can't be bookless.
Have a great day and check out the What I Learned This Week carnival for more life lessons!

  2. Um, is there any chance that you're pregnant? From what I understand, once you've had a couple of kiddos, your belly starts popping out at conception...

  3. Your pants probably shrunk in the dryer. I hate it when that happens! =(

  4. It's never fun when clothes start to feel a little more snug. Hope you find a better read at the library.

  5. I never have a problem giving up on a book - life is too short to struggle through a book I am reading for "pleasure"!

  6. I am positive that there's a gremlin that lives in my closet that shrinks my clothes when I'm not looking! Needless to say, I've been trying to lose some weight myself. I KNOW that the pants are tight because I put on a few extra pounds.

  7. I hear ya on the Tummy Pooch, although mine has definitely got something to do with that number on the scale increasing. It's brutal, getting older, isn't it!? Nothing stays the same. ;-)

  8. The belly thing is so disheartening sometimes, isn't it. But then so too are the numbers. We should just revel in our girth!

  11. great list.

My mom has me thinking that all the "whites" are the cause of my tummy weight. I think it's the baby i had 5 months ago and the fact that it is still winter here!!!

    Just a thought.

  12. Curious, one question. You can't really fit comfortably into your pants is only on the tummy part? or thighs? or hip?

if its just the tummy area or waist, I have a question. Do you drink Coke or Pepsi? Or gassy drinks? They were my ONLY reason for the bulging tummy, when that was completely out of my menu and with 25 sit-ups a day, it helped a lot.

  13. LOL about the 2 time chicken fried steak thing! I can just see him suddenly realize he already had one that day! And I bet HIS pants aren't tight - its so unfair. -- Leann

  14. I know the feeling! I wear sweat pants all the time now. I'd just rather be comfortable than constantly be reminded that it's time to lose some weight!
